Olympics, R is still 29, and a Flower

Update: The Roomba (automated vacuum) found my chocolate square. While it didn't bode well for the Roomba filter or the piece of chocolate, I was relieved to know I hadn't eaten it and forgotten.

In celebration of the last week that R will be age 29, I made a short list of things I didn't know before dating, and marrying R:
-There are multiple types of lettuce - not just iceberg.
-How to pronounce the word Zion.
-There are multiple types of cheeses - not just American Kraft singles!
-Some high schools don't have a football team.
-There does exist a man (that isn't my father) that will love me unconditionally.

Friday night we went to a lovely dinner party at MMD's new home and watched the Opening Ceremonies. We drank English breakfast tea and cheered for Mr. Bean.

Red, White, Blue - and a Bow!
Saturday ALM and I went to a Cupcake Fundraiser for a group called Cherishing the Journey (website: http://www.cherishingthejourney.org/). Obviously, I don't need to explain why I went to a cupcake fundraiser. And it was as amazing as you might imagine a Cupcake Fundraiser to be.
But I would like to share the purpose of this group, from their website, "Pregnancy and post-natal support when your baby has a negative prenatal diagnosis, or passes unexpectedly before or after birth." A faithful family from our Sunday School class has had this experience and is now involved in this group. Even though the cupcakes were amazing, I enjoyed seeing these families, heartbroken and trying to help others, and their faith in practice even more.

Sneaking into our yard
We have a small garden. It has at least eight eggplants! I went out into the heat to get a photo of the eggplants, but was distracted by this flower growing through the fence.
Then I was distracted by Shelby Ann throwing a snake into the air.

She found it by the banana tree. I froze. She threw it in the air again. I ran to the back porch, shouting for her to come inside.

I am thankful that no harm seems to have come to Shelbs. And that I didn't have a full on panic attack.
R says Shelby Ann keeps our yard safe, not to worry, and that he saw one in the front yard this morning! Oh, and he wondered if next time I could get a picture of her throwing it into the air?

I have decided Squirms and I can never go outside again.
We will just nap.
