Auntie L Comes to Town

My youngest sister graced us with her presence for several days....providing concrete evidence that I need a nanny to help me.

Since I was so devastated by her leaving today, I made chocolate cake in a mug. This was not my first time and I decided to try a different recipe: http://www.instructables.com/id/5-minute-Chocolate-Cake/. I also decided not to use an egg. I was pretty excited, but noticed that this cake, like the others I have tried, seemed a bit off. I - finally - noticed that my canola oil didn't smell "right" - what should canola oil smell like? Maybe I should check the date on the canola oil, does that go bad? October 2011. Yes.

I re-made the cake with vegetable oil - while checking the dates on all the ingredients - and can say that this recipe is my favorite so far. Cake in a mug that takes only minutes to make is a lovely idea for my new lifestyle.

Although, one of my sisters did point out that if I keep doing things like making cake in a mug and not exercising, I won't be able to use the title trophy wife anymore.

While L was here we had a dinner party (she cooked for us!), went to the beach, she played with Squirms while R and I helped some friends move into their new home, we went to the pool, she visited an Irish Pub for the first time, we had a girls night and watched Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy (wonderful film) while painting our nails, we went to church, and L and I went to see the new Batman movie (excellent).

In summary, we had lots of fun and I wore lots of sunscreen. Oh, and L is now addicted to Psych (one of our favorite TV shows that we've been watching over and over again on Netflix since canceling cable, and the reason I've been calling R chocolate einstein). 

It's cold!

Squirms is a pro at the beach, but this was her first time with her feet in the ocean. Let's just say that she prefers the warmth of the pool water.

We are also suspicious that another tooth is trying to arise. L learned quickly that Squirms is persistent about trying to put whatever she sees in her mouth - fingers, noses, toys, Tanner....

Story Time - The Kings and Queens of England

I'm sure L's favorite part of the visit was the quality time we spent together....although I'm pretty sure she only agreed to go to a movie with me because ALM was meeting us there....

Regardless, I will miss having her here. But I am glad that now I will get to hold my child again - L kept pulling the I'm leaving in a few days, let me hold her card.
