Baths, Bread Pudding, and Baskets

This week in review:

  • I started a blog.  I have decided it would be better to use initials and possibly nicknames just in case someone doesn't want their name mentioned, and because it's much shorter to type one letter instead of seven (even though my typing skills are pretty good thanks to a very strict high school typing teacher).  So, let's start with easy ones.  R = the husband; H, L, & C = the sisters; senorR & Mrs. MJH = the in-laws; ALM & MPD = the friends of corner in central florida (you know who you are).  We'll make up more as needed....
  • The dogs got baths.  Yay!  As you can tell from this picture Shelby Ann (the dogs don't care if their names are used) LOVES getting a bath....well, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration....
  • We discovered that the movie Die Hard with a Vengeance is pretty funny.
  • I made an Alton Brown recipe, Sweet Corn Bread Pudding, and it was delicious.  (I know, the title sounds weird because it includes corn + bread pudding but it was worth the risk)  http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/good-eats/sweet-corn-bread-pudding-recipe/index.html
  • The building where I work flooded.  Yes, you read that statement correctly - the building flooded.  I work on the second floor and heard the water before I saw it - a river on the second floor and the first floor people were treated to waterfalls and rain.  VERY exciting day for a bunch of engineers.
  • R and some other boys, I mean strapping men, went skeet shooting this morning.  I'm super on board with R's hobbies that allow me to sleep late or read on the beach.
  • R has completed the bookcase for the nursery (and by completed I mean he has worked really hard to rebuild, refinish, and paint) AND Mrs. MHJ ordered us white baskets (that fit perfectly) to go on the shelves.  Boxes from PotteryBarnKids waiting at the front door have a magical effect on my life outlook.
  • I got to hang out with ALM, her fun mom, and her discerning baby boy.  The picture below was taken from ALM's room at the hospital on his birthday - please note the rainbow in the center at the horizon.
  • Right now the handsome dog pictured below is fighting for attention with this blog. And since getting licked in the face from a 85 lbs puppy is hard to ignore, I'll end here.  Next week I'll try to have some pictures of the Nursery in progress and maybe a summary of the adoption process just in case people are curious.
