Ten Things

1. Yesterday Squirms and I went for a lovely walk in the bright sunshine past palm trees and saw kids at the local middle school playing outside. Then I made myself a cup of tea and watched an episode Foyle's War (love Masterpiece Theater), a series about a Detective Chief Superintendent in England during World War II.

2. The Squirms is pulling herself up to a standing position now....well, she can pull herself up to standing position. Right now she is eating one of the socks I put on her this morning.

3. R has been very busy at work and serving in different ways at our church. He also has been very busy keeping me happy and hanging out with his favorite daughter. I'm proud to have a husband who enjoys, and can handle, responsibility but still makes us his priority.

4. I asked friends to go to breakfast early on Saturday morning. I know that at 5:45 am I will severely regret this decision but that at 6:35 (once we're seated and coffee arrives) I will be glad to spend time with them. I hope they are aware that I'll probably show up in worn (that means dirty) jeans and a giant sweat shirt. I will try to wear mascara though - keeping up the trophy wife appearance.

5. I heart Paula Deen's apple pie recipe.

6. H went backpacking along the Appalachian Trail. I really enjoyed hearing her recount the experience. Even though she started with I was biten by a bear....

7. I still like Auburn. And the football team. And my degree. And the town.

8. Every time I talk to Granny on the phone, she asks if I've rocked Squirms today. Usually the answer is yes, but if not, I make sure to rock her to sleep later that day; conscious that of all the things she could be asking if I've done that day (make R dinner, ironed clothes, worked at a local food kitchen, finished the book I'm reading, watched the news, taken more pictures of Squirms, written a blog post, gone jogging) she only ever asks if I've spent time holding and rocking Squirms.

9. Saturday we got to celebrate a friend's 30th birthday and were introduced to a delicious local restaurant. I had pork belly. With the fat on. The belly is where bacon comes from. I just ended two sentences with prepositions. But my meal on Saturday night was excellent.

10. The Squirms is now rubbing her eyes while trying to eat a teddy bear rattle. It looks like it's time to follow Granny's advice.
