adoption update

I think R said it best when he compared the sharing of our excitement and joy of this adoption to buying our friends and family tickets on the maiden voyage of the Titanic.

Thank you for understanding that we didn't really want to talk this week.
And thank you for the supportive messages, cards, and thoughtful presents.

The H family knows us well

The H family adding a bit of beauty to our dark home this week

Homemade bread (that we immediately started eating) from the W family

We received the news that our birth mother had decided to parent on Monday.  Our social worker and the pregnancy counselor visited our house to let us know.  Our birth mother was discharged from the hospital on Monday.

We have received several questions this week about what is next and for the most part our answer to everything is "We don't know" (this includes questions like, what do you want to eat for dinner?).  However, there are several questions we received more than once and have an answer to:
-We are going to continue to pursue parenting through adoption.
-We will not have to re-pay adoption costs that have been paid.
-I like dark chocolate.  R likes ice cream.
-Our families still wanted to come visit but we asked them to wait and we left town.

From Tolkien's The Fellowship of the Ring
"'Well if that isn't a plague and a nuisance!' said Pippin.  The news:  no fire, and a move again by night, had been broken to him, as soon as he woke in the late afternoon. 'All because of a pack of crows!  I had looked forward to a real good meal tonight:  something hot.'
'Well, you can go on looking forward,' said Gandalf.  'There may be many unexpected feasts ahead for you."
