Home!
While I’ve never imagined myself calling central Florida home, I also never imagined myself living in the state of New Jersey for a month. I’m not going to lie - I started crying when I took the Philadelphia airport exit and realized my grown-up work trip was almost over. You may be wondering….she started crying? this girl has problems. But, in my defense, although I can admit that I’m slightly crazy, I was incredibly anxious over driving by myself from Atlantic City to Philadelphia and attempting to stop for gas at the specific place in New Jersey (so I wouldn’t have to get out of the car, nor stop in downtown Philly) before I crossed the river and where it would be safe (please note that Camden, one of the most dangerous cities in the US is one of the last NJ exits). Let’s just say it was an actual miracle that I made it without an incident. And that my husband really is THE SMARTEST man in the world for sending our gps with me. Plus, back to the crying thing, I also can claim that the news of becoming a mother is still sinking in and this is huge news to me. Perhaps most women react this way, I can’t compare since I’ve never
been pregnant, but when you know that you can’t have a child and then find out that there is a child being born that will be yours - well, let’s just say that I expect to be randomly crying with joy a lot.
I know that a 28 year old woman should probably not feel this way - but I was so happy to return my rental car, take a shuttle to the airport, and check my two bags. I felt free of responsibility. And knew that my husband, who would be waiting for me at the airport, would help carry my bags at the other end.
It’s odd how different home seems - the trees are so different here, still green, and mostly palm instead of pine; my car steering wheel is so much smaller than the dodge charger I had been driving; the entire landscape is somehow lighter and of course the weather is warmer.
I also need to brag on R. I received ten homemade (and by homemade I mean designed thru an app by him) cards, funny and sweet ones, while at my hotel. The house was clean, even the bathroom!, and the dogs didn’t smell horrible. There were also half a dozen tulips waiting on me in the seat of the car at the airport (LOVE tulips). I know, no one is surprised by this behavior. And, while I’m bragging, and updating about our family, R’s patent was approved by the company for filing AND he had helped a college friend with a design and his name is on a second patent submittal….remember how I said he is THE SMARTEST man?
